A step-by-step guide to using the VizBull Canvas Editor to create collages, designs, and graphics.

1. Getting Started

Overview

The VizBull editor has three main areas:

  • Top toolbar — Font controls, text formatting, alignment, blend modes, delete, export, and account
  • Left sidebar — Category tabs (Size, Shapes, Collages, Text, Images, Stickers, Elements) with item panels
  • Center canvas — Your design workspace

First Steps

  1. Choose your canvas size from the Size category (see Section 2).
  2. Add a collage layout, shape, or element from the sidebar.
  3. Add images to shapes using the right-click menu or image picker.
  4. Customize text, colors, and effects using the top toolbar.
  5. Export your design when done.

2. Canvas Size & Layout

How to set canvas size

  1. Click Size in the left sidebar.
  2. Pick a preset from the list (organized by platform):
  • Instagram — Post (1:1), Story (9:16), Ad
  • Facebook — Post (Landscape/Square), Cover
  • Twitter/X — Tweet (16:9), Profile Header, Square
  • YouTube — Thumbnail, Channel Art, Short
  • LinkedIn — Post, Profile Banner, Square
  • Video — Full HD, 4K, Vertical HD, Square
  • Pinterest — Pin (2:3)
  • TikTok / Snapchat — Story (9:16)
  • Print — A4, A3, US Letter, Poster, etc.
  • Web Banners — Leaderboard, Medium Rectangle, Skyscraper
  • Logos & Icons — Favicon, App Icon, Wide Logo
  • Amazon / Etsy / Google Play — Various ad and product formats
  1. Click a preset to apply it.
  2. (Optional) Use Custom to enter width and height manually, then click Apply.

3. Building a Collage

Method A: From preset collages

  1. Click Collages in the left sidebar.
  2. Browse layouts (hexagons, hearts, grids, circles, sports shapes, etc.).
  3. Drag a collage thumbnail onto the canvas, or click it to add at center.
  4. The collage appears as a group of shapes.
  5. Right-click the collage (or a shape in it) and choose Add Images to Collage or Add & Fill Random Images.
  6. Pick images from your computer; they will be placed into the collage shapes.

Method B: From shapes

  1. Click Shapes & Icons (Photo Frames) in the sidebar.
  2. Choose frames (Square, Circle, Ellipse, Diamond, Triangle, Plus, etc.).
  3. Drag or click to add a shape to the canvas.
  4. Right-click the shape → Add Image or Change Image.
  5. Add more shapes and group/align them as needed.

Method C: Bulk fill

  1. Add a collage or group with multiple shapes.
  2. Right-click the group/collage.
  3. Choose one of the following:
  • Add Images to Collage (N shapes) — Pick multiple images, assign to shapes
  • Add & Fill Random Images — Assign random images to shapes
  • Fill All (Skip Small Regions) — Fill shapes while skipping very small ones

4. Shapes & Photo Frames

Available shapes

  • Square, Circle, Ellipse
  • Square Rounded, Diamond Square
  • Trapezoid, Parallelogram
  • Plus Sign, Triangle
  • Semi Circle, Circle Quarter
  • And more (see sidebar)

How to add a shape

  1. Click Shapes & Icons in the left sidebar.
  2. Drag a shape onto the canvas, or click to add at center.
  3. Select it to drag, resize, or rotate.

How to add an image inside a shape

  1. Right-click the shape.
  2. Choose Add Image or Change Image.
  3. Pick an image from your computer.
  4. The image is clipped to the shape (photo frame).

5. Adding & Editing Images

Uploading images

  1. Click Images in the left sidebar.
  2. Click Upload Image.
  3. Choose one or more images from your computer.
  4. Images are added to the canvas and can be moved/resized.

Adding images to shapes

  1. Right-click a shape (rectangle, circle, ellipse, polygon, path).
  2. Choose Add Image or Change Image.
  3. Select an image — it is masked into the shape.

Editing an image inside a shape

  1. Right-click the shape and choose Edit Image.
  2. In edit mode you can:
  • Drag the image to reposition it
  • Drag corner handles to scale it
  • Adjust fit inside the shape

Click outside the shape or press Escape to exit edit mode.

Placeholder image

  1. Click ImagesPlaceholder.
  2. A placeholder image is added; you can later replace it with a real image.

6. Text & Typography

Adding text

  1. Click Text & Typography in the left sidebar.
  2. Choose:
  • Heading1, Sub Heading1, Paragraph — Templates
  • Text layouts (Merry Christmas, Happy Diwali, Love finds way, etc.)
  • Emojis — Smileys, hearts, party, sports, etc.

Editing text with the toolbar

  1. Click a text object to select it.
  2. Use the top toolbar:
  • Font — Dropdown + search
  • Font size — Number input, +/- buttons
  • Formatting (Type icon) — Bold, Italic, Underline
  • Alignment — Left, Center, Right, Justify
  • Vertical alignment — Top, Middle, Bottom
  • Paragraph mode — Wrap text for multi-line
  • Spacing — Letter spacing, line height
  • Fill color — Color picker
  • Effects (Palette icon) — Stroke, Shadow, Gradient fill

Double-click to edit text content

  1. Double-click a text object.
  2. Type new text in the editor.
  3. Click outside or press Enter to confirm.

7. Stickers & Elements

Stickers

  1. Click Stickers in the left sidebar.
  2. Browse sticker packs.
  3. Drag or click to add stickers to the canvas.

Elements

  1. Click Elements in the left sidebar.
  2. Browse decorative elements (stars, icons, etc.).
  3. Drag or click to add elements.
  4. Resize and move them like any other object.

8. Drag and Drop

From sidebar to canvas

  1. Collages — Drag thumbnail → drop on canvas (or click to add at center).
  2. Shapes — Drag shape → drop on canvas.
  3. Text — Drag text template → drop on canvas.
  4. Elements — Drag element → drop on canvas.

On the canvas

  1. Move an object — Click and drag it.
  2. Resize — Select it, then drag the corner handles (resize transformer).
  3. Rotate — Select it, then drag the rotation handle above the object.

Reordering layers

  1. Open the Objects panel (right side or in the sidebar).
  2. Each object has a drag handle (⋮⋮).
  3. Drag objects up or down to change stacking order.

9. Right-Click Context Menu

Right-click (or long-press on touch) on any object to open a context menu.

  • Add Image / Change Image — Add or replace photo in the shape
  • Edit Image — Enter edit mode for the embedded image
  • Duplicate — Copy the object (hold L/R/T/B or Arrow keys for directional copy)
  • Bring to Front — Move above other objects
  • Send to Back — Move behind other objects
  • Delete — Remove the object

  • Add Images to Collage (N shapes) — Pick images for all shapes
  • Add & Fill Random Images — Random assignment
  • Fill All (Skip Small Regions) — Fill non-small shapes
  • Duplicate
  • Bring to Front / Send to Back
  • Delete

  • Add Images to Collection (N shapes) — Assign images to collection shapes
  • Duplicate
  • Bring to Front / Send to Back
  • Delete

  • Right-click a single shape — Menu for that shape (Add/Change Image, Edit Image, etc.)
  • Double-click a shape — Select it so you can work on it alone

  • Long-press (about 500 ms) on an object to open the context menu.

10. Selecting, Moving & Resizing Objects

Selecting

  1. Click an object to select it.
  2. Click and drag on empty canvas to select multiple objects (if supported).
  3. Shift+Click to add/remove from selection (if supported).
  4. Click outside or on empty canvas to deselect.

Moving

  1. Select one or more objects.
  2. Drag to move.
  3. Use Arrow keys to nudge:
    • 1 pixel per key
    • Ctrl/Cmd + Arrow for 10 pixels

Resizing & rotation

  • Corner handles — Drag to resize
  • Shift+drag — Keep aspect ratio
  • Align dropdown → Resize Objects for exact W/H
  • Rotation handle (above object) — Drag to rotate

11. Align & Distribute

  1. Select one or more objects.
  2. Click Align in the top toolbar.
  3. Use:
  • Left / Center / Right — Horizontal alignment
  • Top / Middle / Bottom — Vertical alignment
  • Distribute Horizontal — Equal horizontal spacing
  • Distribute Vertical — Equal vertical spacing
  • Custom spacing — Enter H (horizontal) or V (vertical) gap and click apply
  • Resize Objects — Enter W, H, or both and apply to selected objects

12. Blend Mode (Composite Operations)

The Blend Mode control changes how selected object(s) blend with objects beneath them on the canvas. It uses HTML5 Canvas globalCompositeOperation—similar to blend modes in Photoshop.

How to use Blend Mode

  1. Select one or more objects (shapes, images, text, groups).
  2. Open the Align dropdown in the top toolbar.
  3. Find the Blend Mode dropdown at the top of the panel.
  4. Choose a blend mode from the list.
  5. The effect is applied immediately to the selected object(s).

Available blend modes

Mode Description
NormalDefault—object draws on top of layers below (no blending).
MultiplyDarkens; colors multiply together. Good for shadows.
ScreenLightens; inverts, multiplies, then inverts.
OverlayCombines Multiply and Screen—increases contrast.
DarkenKeeps darker pixels from both layers.
LightenKeeps lighter pixels from both layers.
Color DodgeBrightens by decreasing contrast.
Color BurnDarkens by increasing contrast.
Hard LightStrong Multiply or Screen depending on source.
Soft LightSofter version of Hard Light.
DifferenceSubtracts colors—often produces inverted hues.
ExclusionSimilar to Difference but with lower contrast.
HueUses hue of source, saturation & lightness of destination.
SaturationUses saturation of source, hue & lightness of destination.
ColorUses hue & saturation of source, lightness of destination.
LuminosityUses lightness of source, hue & saturation of destination.
Source InShows only where source overlaps destination.
Source OutShows only where source does not overlap.
Source AtopSource on top, clipped to destination shape.
Destination OverDestination drawn over source.

Tips

  • Blend modes work best when objects overlap. Stack layers to see the effect.
  • Color, Multiply, and Overlay are commonly used for photo effects.
  • Blend mode is stored per object and persists when grouping/ungrouping.
  • For shapes with images: the Color blend mode can tint photos using the shape’s fill color.

13. Groups & Collections

Grouping objects (Ctrl/Cmd + G)

  1. Select two or more objects.
  2. Press Ctrl+G (Windows) or Cmd+G (Mac).
  3. Objects become one group; move and resize as a unit.
  4. Single-click a child → selects the whole group.
  5. Double-click a child → selects that child for individual edit.

Ungrouping (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + G)

  1. Select a group.
  2. Press Ctrl+Shift+G (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+G (Mac).
  3. Objects become independent again.

Collect (create a collection)

  1. Select two or more objects.
  2. Press Ctrl+Q (Windows) or Cmd+Q (Mac).
  3. Objects are tagged as a collection; they move together when you drag one.

Uncollect

  1. Select an object that is in a collection.
  2. Press Ctrl+Shift+Q (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+Q (Mac).
  3. Collection is dissolved; objects are independent again.

14. Layers Panel (Objects)

Viewing objects

  1. Open the Objects panel (usually in the right sidebar).
  2. All canvas objects are listed.
  3. Click an item in the list to select it on the canvas.

Object controls

  • Drag handle — Drag to reorder layers
  • Eye icon — Show/hide object
  • Lock icon — Lock position (no dragging) or unlock
  • Delete (trash) — Remove object

Selecting from the panel

  1. Click an object in the list to select it.
  2. Avoid clicking the controls (eye, lock, delete) — those use their own actions.

15. Pan & Zoom

Zoom (mouse wheel)

  • Scroll up — Zoom in
  • Scroll down — Zoom out
  • Zoom centers on cursor

Pan (Alt + drag)

  1. Hold Alt.
  2. Drag on the canvas to pan.
  3. Cursor shows as grab.
  4. Release Alt to return to normal mode.

Scroll (Alt + wheel)

  1. Hold Alt.
  2. Scroll mouse wheel to scroll horizontally/vertically.

16. Export & Download

Image export

  1. Click the Download dropdown in the top toolbar.
  2. Background — Transparent, White, or Black.
  3. PNG — Basic (low res), Standard (1x), Hi-Res (2x), Ultra (3x).
  4. JPG — Same scale options (no transparent background).
  5. GIF — Standard (1x).
  6. Click an option to download.

JSON export

  1. Click the { } (braces) dropdown.
  2. Export Selection (JSON) — Selected objects only (select first).
  3. Export All (JSON) — Entire canvas.
  4. Use for backup, sharing layouts, or re-import later.

Import

  1. Click Import JSON.
  2. Choose a JSON file previously exported.
  3. Design is loaded onto the canvas.

Tips & Troubleshooting

  • Check if it’s locked in the Objects panel.
  • Ensure you’re not in Edit Image mode; exit with Escape.

  • Right-click the shape and use Add Image or Change Image.
  • Use Edit Image for repositioning/zooming inside the shape.

  • Right-click directly on the object, not on empty canvas.
  • On touch: long-press for ~500 ms.

  • Change canvas size in Size before exporting.
  • Use higher export scale (2x, 3x) for larger output.
